30 days of Thanks
Today starts 30 days of 'Thanks'. Here's todays 'thanks' as recorded on facebook. I'm thankful for a husband who loves me still after 20 years of marriage. Pastoring is stressful enough, and then he deals with me? Every year gets better, every day gets better, every second get better....he's the half that I was missing until the Lord put us together. Thank you Lord for the perfect mate for me!
I will try to post my Sunday School lessons on either Mondays or Tuesdays for the ladies who didn't make it for Sunday School or for anyone else that would like to see it.
This is from the Sunday before last and it is only my notes....if you wanna hear all the extra that comes out in class, you'll just have to be there. ;0)
The Romans Road To Salvation
When asking someone where they will spend eternity, they might say, “I’m not sure” or “ I think I’ll go to Heaven” but you can show them through the Bible how they can KNOW that they’ll get to Heaven if they are saved.
1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
The first thing a person needs to know in order to get saved is that they are a sinner.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
No one is good enough to get to Heaven. It is a perfect place with no sin, no death, no wrong. If we were to try to live a sinless life in order to be able to merit Heaven, none of us would be able to do it. We are born sinners. No one had to teach us to do wrong, it is our nature. But, God loves us, even from the beginning of time He had a plan for us.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
He loves us so much that He provided a sacrifice for our sins, His only Son.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil because it would bring death. If they had never ate of it, they would be alive today. But because of Eve’s lust of the flesh(she knew that the fruit was good food for her body), the lust of the eyes(it looked good), and the pride of life (it would make her wise)she took of the fruit and gave it to her husband and he took it. Since Adam and Eve, everyone born has been born with a sinful nature. Gen. 2:17; 3:6
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
There are always consequences for doing wrong if you get caught. The bad (or maybe good) thing about sin is that even if no one sees you do it, God does. He sees all and knows all. The only ones that truly know your relationship with God are you and Him. You can fool everyone else, but you can’t fool God. The wages (our payment) for sin (the wrong things that we do) is death. The Bible refers to it as the second death. We will all face death(unless raptured out) but those who do not accept Christ must face the second death which is eternal punishment in a burning hell. Rev. 20:14 & 15 Some doubt the reality of Hell because God is a loving God, but hell is real. It was created for Satan and his angels. I listened to a tape recording supposedly taped by scientists when they were studying movements of the earth’s core. The recording was called ‘The sounds of Hell’ basically it just sounded like tired screaming. People screaming for their lives, but you could tell they were tired. But there was also a sense of a demonic presence. I’ll never forget the sounds and I’ll never doubt the reality of that recording. I believe there are people in hell right now and if they could get word to us, they would tell us to make sure to do whatever we had to do to keep from going there. So, how do we escape the second death?
Romans 10:9, 10, 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
There is only one way to Heaven. In John 14:6, Jesus tells us that He is the only way to Heaven. Salvation is very simple. Jesus tells us to come to Him as a child in Mark 10:14. It is as easy as A,B, C Acknowledge your need of salvation- that you cannot merit Heaven on your own; Believe that Jesus came to earth to die for YOU..He lived, died, and rose again so that you could have eternal life in Heaven; Confess your sins to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you and to come into your heart. That is all it takes.
Once you have salvation, no one can take it away from you. John 10:28 & 29 There is only One who can give you salvation and since He is “not willing that any should perish” He is not going to take it away.
