What songs would be on the mix tape of your life?

When I saw this writing prompt, I just had to go with it.  It brought back some really fun memories.  So for those of you who aren’t familiar with cassette tapes, here’s a history lesson for you…

These little tapes usually contained the owner’s favorites songs that they had taped from a radio.  You would listen to the radio with your cassette player nearby and when a song came on that you loved, you mashed the ‘Record’ button and you would do that until there was no more room on your tape.  Now, when you would play the cassette tape and you were looking for a specific song, you would have to rewind or fast forward in order to find it.  This was not a fast process.  LOL

My best friend and I would ride around in her car and listen to her favorite songs.  My most favorite memory is when we were riding around with another friend and we serenaded her all day.  (Her poor ears.)  We had hand motions and all to go with this song, “Close your eyes, lend me your hand, do you feel my heart beating, do you understand, do you feel the same or am I only dreaming?  Is this burning an eternal flame?”  We must’ve sung that song a million times.   Those were the good old days.

So, what would we find on the tape mix of my life?  I’m not sure what all you’d find, but here’s ten that would definitely make the cut:

10.   Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper  I LOVED this song and then they made a movie with the same title that made me like it even more.

9.  I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston    …If I could sing like her I would sing this to my hubby…

8.  From This Moment On by Shania Twain     …I love this one, I would sing it to hubby too…

7.  I’ll Be There by Mariah Carey     …I used to LOVE Mariah Carey.  She was one of my favorites so I had to include one of her songs.

So, now here are my current and long time favorites…  If you don’t know numbers 2 through 5, look up Camden Baptist Church on You Tube and you will find all of them.

6.  Amazing Grace- because we sung this at EVERY service when I went to White Oak Springs church for all of my teenage years and it is still a song that we sing a good bit at my church now.

5.  I Know Him

4.  He Knows My Name

3.  How Deep the Father’s Love

2.  I Have Been Blessed

1.  I Found It All by the Collingsworth Family

I hope you enjoyed my list.  What songs would be on your life’s mix tape list?
